Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday held a review meeting at the National Health Mission, Assam Head Office in the city.

NSM has been made the control room for fighting coronavirus in Guwahati.

Appreciating the roles played by state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and minister of state for health Pijush Hazarika, Sonowal said that the timely and the swift action taken by the health department has instilled a sense of belief and confidence among the people of the state to succeed against coronavirus.

Saying that the help department has shown exemplary performance by setting up infrastructure, arranging logistics etc in record time, Sonowal said that he himself witnessed the upbeat mood among the health workers because of these decisive and timely steps taken by the health department.

He urged the health department officials to carry on this momentum so that victory can be achieved over COVID-19.

Later talking to the newsmen at the NHM premises, Sonowal said that state government was very much concerned about the people from Assam stuck in different states of the country and abroad and has taken several steps to alleviate their difficulties.

Sonowal himself had talked to his counterparts in different states and requested them to provide food, medical facilities etc. to the people from Assam stranded in those states due to lockdown.

The state government has provided $1,000 each to 230 people from Assam stranded abroad and provided Rs 25000 each to 610 people undergoing treatment in other states for cancer, kidney and heart ailments during the lockdown, he said.
