A sensational media report of an alleged gang rape of a girl studying in Class X under Mornoi Police Station of East Goalpara in Lower Assam, which was published in a section of media (not Northeast Now) confused and  shocked the family of the girl.

The family on Monday denied that their daughter was gang raped and clarified that the four accused, who had kidnapped the girl and attempted to rape, failed in their attempt.

“When the goons failed in their attempt they severely assaulted her with blows and kicks and left unattended,” family sources informed.

The FIR which has been submitted by the victim’s family at the Mornoi Police Station has also mentioned that the girl was kidnapped by Akbar Ali, the main accused and three of his accomplices when she was going for tuition at the Luptachar LP School.

But their evil intention of raping her could not be fulfilled due to stiff resistance by the girl.

“The incident occurred on Friday and the FIR was lodged on Saturday. The police have arrested all the four accused in the next two days, Sunday night and Monday morning,” informed Amitava Sinha, Superintendent of Police.

Sinha further informed that the accused have been taken for seven days’ police remand for further investigation.
