Guwahati: Girijananda Chowdhury University Vice Chancellor, Professor Kandarpa Das has been awarded the honorary title “Ambassador of Russian Education and Science” by the Russian Council of the Consortium of Educational and Scientific Organizations.
Professor Das, an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, was awarded the title for his contributions to promoting Russian language, culture, and education in India.

He holds a doctorate in Russian Literature from Moscow State University and is known for his work in Russian Studies, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, and Open and Distance Learning.
The prestigious title was conferred during a meeting of the Consortium Council on June 27, 2024. Professor Das has also been invited to an official ceremony in Moscow on November 27-28, 2024, to receive the regalia associated with the honor. The Consortium will cover his travel and accommodation expenses.
Professor Das was previously awarded the Pushkin Medal by Russia in 2023. The Russian House in New Delhi has extended its congratulations on this latest recognition.
