Although the actual cause of the giraffe’s death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the giraffe’s neck got stuck in a railing of the feeding platform leading to suffocation.

The dead giraffe has been identified as Rongili, who was brought from Patna in Bihar in 2020.

Rongili and Kulananda were brought to the Zoo in Guwahati from Patna under an animal exchange programme.
