Guwahati: The Gauhati University (GU) has hiked the PhD admission application fee by 33%.
The varsity has increased the application fee up to Rs 2000 from the existing fee of Rs 2000.

Even as a section of the varsity students opposed the increase, calling it ‘unjustified’, the university officials said the hike was needed to meet expenses.
Sources said that All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) asked the Gauhati University to roll back the decision, but received no response from the varsity authorities.
The Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU), the elected students’ union of the university, also asked the authorities to not raise the fees.
