Assam: Gang of dacoits fall into police net in Pathsala

A gang of dacoits was arrested by the Bajali Police at Pathsala in Barpeta district (Assam) on Thursday.

The ‘Gang of Three’ landed in the police net while trying to snatch money from a person who had just come out of the SBI bank.

Sources said that in the past few days, money snatching cases are on the rise in Pathsala town. Miscreants are looting money from people coming to the banks or going to the ATMs to withdraw money.

The trio arrested by the police has been identified as Jhujnu Gowala, 45, and 44-year-old Dipak Singh – both from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and 26-year-old Chintu Kumar from Bihar.

Police have recovered a pulsar 220 bike bearing the registration No – JH 15 R 9281, ATM cards and two mobile phones from their possession.

Police suspect that the trio is involved in several cases of money snatching in Pathsala town.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Birinchi Borah told Northeast Now, “We caught the trio based on specific inputs given by our sources. A team of Bajali Police led by in-charge Chandan Rout and sub-inspector Surjya Borah nabbed the three in Pathsala town.”

The SDPO further informed that the trio is being interrogated to “dig out more details from them”.
