Lakhimpur police arrested one Padmeswar Gogoi on Thursday evening, who has been duping people since 2017.

Gogoi, who is a resident of Bokulgaon under Panigaon Police Station, has been accused of collecting money from over 150 persons and promising them to induct vehicles in Oil India Limited in Duliajan for hire.

He is believed to have earned several crores of rupees this way over the years from persons who were interested to rent their vehicles to OIL.

He used to take Rs 2 lakh from his victims promising them to buy vehicles from auto-finance companies which would be sent to OIL-Duliajan later.

Though many complaints have been against Padmeswar Gogoi in Pangaon Police Station, he had been successful in evading arrest.

Gogoi was finally arrested by Panigaon police and they are on the lookout of another aid who is on the run.
