The Bokulbon Trust has selected folk artiste and dance maestro Bhuban Chandra Rai, as the recipient of the Bokulbon Award 2019.

Folk artiste Rai has contributed for promotion and preservation of Kushan Nritya.

The award is annually given away by the Bokulban Trust and Asom Bokulban Samaj here in the memory of noted poet Late Ananda Chandra Barooah, who was popularly known as Bokulbanar Kabi.

Late Ananda Chandra Barooah was also a former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha.

The award carries a cash prize, a citation, a seleng sador and a packet of books.

A press communique issued by the Bokulbon Trust  stated that Rai had been selected for the award for his valuable contributions to preserve and promote Kushana Nritya thereby enriching Assamese art and culture.

The award will be presented to folk artiste and dance maestro Bhuban Chandra Rai at a function to be held on January 27, 2019 at the Danbir Radha Kanta Handique Bhawan within the premises of the Chandra Kanta Handique Bhawan, the central office of the Asam Sahitya Sabha at Assam’s Jorhat district.
