Dhubri: As Assam grapples with severe flooding, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has criticised the state government’s handling of the crisis, accusing it of negligence and inadequate relief efforts.
“The state government has done nothing for Assam. Ninety percent of the flood-affected areas have not received any relief materials,” Ajmal claimed.
He said: “It has been 15-20 days since the flood situation began, with many people losing their homes and many lives lost. This is the ignorance of the state government.”
The flooding in Assam has been severe, with over 5 lakh people affected across 18 districts of the state, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
The death toll has risen to more than 90, and thousands of people are currently sheltered in relief camps.
