Guwahati: Assam’s flood situation saw a slight improvement, but the devastation remains significant as the death toll rose to 93 on Sunday. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported two more fatalities in Karimganj district on Sunday.

Nearly 5.98 lakh people across 18 districts are still battling the consequences of the deluge.

Cachar district continues to bear the brunt, with over 1.15 lakh people affected. Dhubri and Nagaon follow closely with over 81,000 and 76,000 people impacted, respectively. Goalpara, Dhemaji, Golaghat, and Sivasagar are also reeling from the floods.

Along with this, 1,342 villages remain submerged across 52 revenue circles with over 25,367.61 hectares of crop area damaged.

Major rivers like Brahmaputra, Burhidihing, and Disang are still reported to be above the danger level.

Over 58,000 people have been forced to take shelter in relief camps across 13 districts and nearly 284,000 domestic animals affected, with over 230 washed away in the last 24 hours.
