Assam floods: 3 go missing as boats capsize in river Brahmaputra

While one incident happened at Dharapur, the other incident took place near Hajo's Bathan village

In two separate incidents of boat capsize in river Brahmaputra, three persons have gone missing on Tuesday in Assam’s Kamrup (M) and Kamrup (Rural) districts.

According to information, a boat, where there were four people on board, capsized in river Brahmaputra at Dharapaur area on the outskirts of Guwahati city in Kamrup (M).

While two persons were rescued, two others have gone missing. They have been feared dead.

In similar other incident, one person has gone missing after the boat, in which five people were moving from a char area along the Brahmaputra towards Bathan village in Hajo under Kamrup (Rural) district, capsized in the mighty river.

Four persons have been rescued. But the fifth person is yet to be rescued.

Hajo is 35.3 km away from Guwahati city.

Due to incessant rains for the last few days, the water level of river Brahmaputra has been flowing above the danger level.

The five people, who were on the boat when the incident of capsize took place, have been identified as Satish Baishya, Ganga Baishya, Dipak Baishya, Nihal Baishya and Kalpa Baishya.
