The 7-day Summer Tennis Coaching Camp, organised by the Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) in the concluded on Monday.

The camp was held at the R.G. Baruah Sports Complex (Nehru Stadium) from July 8.

Altogether 30 players in the age group of 7 to 16 years from various parts of the region took part in the camp, informed Kalyan Kumar Das, president, GLTA.

The coaching was imparted by renowned coach Jeet Kataria from New Delhi and he was assisted by Rupam Gogoi and Mohan Pegu.

The camp was held both in the Nurul Amin Tennis Complex and Racquet and Billiards Club respectively in two sessions daily.

In the brief closing function, Lakhya Konwar, member secretary, State Committee for Students and Youth Welfare, Assam and Sanjive Narain, chairman and managing director, Prag News and Anirban Das, advisor, GLTA attended the function as cChief guest and guests-of-honour respectively.

Madhuryya Hazarika, vice-president, GLTA welcomed the august gathering.

GLTA president Kalyan Kumar Das felicitated the distinguished guests and also spoke about the future plans to promote the game of tennis with the motto of the Association ‘Tennis for All’.

Jeet Kataria, chief coach, presented a brief report of the camp.

The distinguished guests lauded the efforts of the GLTA for organising such coaching camps for promoting the game of tennis and creating a healthy lifestyle amongst the children.

They also advised the organisers to come up with more such camps and tournaments to give maximum exposure to the young budding talented players for achieving their goals.

In the function, Tushar Paul of GLTA Tennis Academy was felicitated for his fabulous achievements by winning various national level tennis tournaments during 2018-19.

The guests distributed certificates and medals to all the participants and also felicitated the coaches of the camp, the organizers informed.
