On the other hand, at Kumrakata, the main road connecting Hojai district with West Karbi Anglong district has completely been submerged by flood waters.

Locals are using boats to move from one village to another.

“This morning, one man while crossing the road drowned, however, he was lucky enough that he could anyhow manage to survive by holding a post. In the meantime, other villagers noticed him and saved his life,” a local said.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel rescued members of many families trapped in flood waters.

Tanmoy Pratim Borgohain, the deputy commissioner of Hojai district, while talking to Northeast Now said, “The district administration has remained alert and is monitoring the flood situation in the district. Emergency services have been put on alert across the district and already relief camp has been set up where flood has affected severely.”

Including Hojai district, a total of 21 districts across Assam have been affected in 2019 so far.
