Guwahati: The final session of the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly will commence on Monday, with Finance Minister Ajanta Neog scheduled to present the Vote on Accounts Budget for 2026โ27 in the House on February 17.
With the next Assembly elections due in MarchโApril, the government will not present a full State Budget during this session. Instead, the comprehensive Budget for 2026โ27 will be tabled by the new government after it assumes office.
The four-day Budget Session (Vote on Account) 2026 will open with the Governorโs Address on Monday, followed by obituary references. Speaker Biswajit Daimary will then announce the report of the Business Advisory Committee outlining the agenda for the session.
Subsequent proceedings will include the laying of ordinances, reports and rules, presentation of Assembly Committee reports, motions for the election of members to various committees and boards, introduction of Government Bills, the Motion of Thanks on the Governorโs Address, and the presentation of Supplementary Demands for Grants and Supplementary Appropriation for 2025โ26.
On February 17, the House will take up Question Hour before Neog presents the Vote on Account for 2026โ27. The dayโs business will also feature discussion on the Motion of Thanks and other government matters.
February 18 will include Question Hour, followed by discussion and voting on Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2025โ26, along with other official business.
On February 19, the Assembly will again begin with Question Hour. This will be followed by discussion and voting on the Vote on Account. The House will then take up the introduction, consideration and passage of the Assam Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill, 2026, along with other scheduled government business.
