The final decision regarding the reopening of schools and other educational institutions in Assam would be taken on August 25 or August 26.

The decision would be taken by the task force constituting noted educationists and other stakeholders.

This was informed by state educational minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing on Saturday.

“We are ready to open the schools from September 1. The teachers are getting their COVID-19 tests done. We have been receiving feedback from the people. But the task force will discuss the matter on August 25 and 26,” he said.

He further informed that every teacher has been asked to be ready to attend their respective institutions from September 1.

They have been asked to undergo COVID-19 tests from August 21 to 30.

All the educational institutes in the state have remained shut from March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
