Fake currency seized in Lakhimpur Assam
Two persons, Jehirul Islam (28) and Haidar Ali (29), both residents of Doulatpur under Bihpuria Police Station, were arrested from the vehicle.

North Lakhimpur: Police in Assam’s Lakhimpur district recovered a large quantity of suspected Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) during an early morning operation on Monday.

The seizure was made during a checking operation at around 5:30 a.m. in front of the Dholpur Police Outpost under Narayanpur Police Station, when a hatchback bearing registration number AS01GK7439 was intercepted.

The officer-in-charge (IC) of Dholpur Police Outpost, along with police personnel, recovered a large quantity of suspected FICN from the vehicle, which was travelling from Bongalmora in Lakhimpur towards Guwahati.

Two persons were arrested from the vehicle. They were identified as Jehirul Islam (28), son of late Abbas Ali, and Haidar Ali (29), son of Afaz Uddin, both residents of Doulatpur under Bihpuria Police Station.

During the search, police also recovered two mobile phones and suspected FICN with a total face value of Rs 33,59,500.
