Dhubri Police on Saturday busted a racket involved in making fake educational certificates and other documents during an operation at the Nathpara area in Assam’s Dhubri town.
The racket came to light during a search operation carried out at the residence of one Gulam Sahzaman in the Nathpara area in connection with a burglary case.

Police said a few days back, acting on specific input, one Sohelur alias Sohidur Rahman was arrested from the Bhatigoan area in Dhubri town and recovered some fake certificates and documents from his possession.
On the basis of the confessions by Sohidul, the Dhubri Police on Saturday conducted a fresh raid at the premises of Golam Sahjamal and detected a mini-factory of fake certificates inside the premises.
The hours-long operation was led by Dhubri additional superintendent of police Rosyrani Sharma and the police team was able to successfully recover a number of fake certificates and docoments as well.
The police also seized two laptops, computers and high-definition printers from the premises of the kingpin of the fake certificates racket.
The owner of the house, Gulam Sahzaman, was arrested on charges of forgery, using a forged document as a genuine one, criminal conspiracy and counterfeiting government stamp.
However, his other accomplices have not been arrested yet and police operation to arrest the other culprits involved in the fake racket is on, said additional superintendent of police, Rosyrani Sarma.
