Assam Manipur: Police detain 24 people attempting to occupy disputed area

Guwahati: A former postmaster was arrested in Dhemaji, Assam for allegedly embezzling a huge amount of money.

The accused had allegedly been on the run for over five months.

He has been identified as Hirembo Borsaikia, former postmaster of the Haloudunga sub-post office in Bordolini, Dhemaji district.

Borsaikia was accused of embezzling a substantial amount of money entrusted to the post office.

Following complaints from 1260 affected customers, a joint operation by Dhemaji Bordalni police and Jonai police was launched to apprehend him.

Borsaikia was finally arrested on Friday night.

The police said that an investigation has been initiated in connection with the allegations put on him.
