The State Election Commission has entrusted Additional Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Dwijen Singh as election observer to monitor the ensuing panchayat election activities in Dhemaji sub-division.

Singh, who has arrived at Dhemaji, addressed a press conference at the Dhemaji DC conference hall on Tuesday.

While seeking active cooperation from the local media persons to conduct the election activities smoothly, Singh requested them to report any irregularity and violation cases to district administration.

The election observer further said he would monitor poll campaign activities of the political parties and contesting candidates including use of vehicles, election expenditure and initiate action against any reported violation of election code of conduct.

Among others, Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Returning Officer Roshni Aparanji Korati, ADC (Election) Ankur Bhorali and Dhemaji Election Officer Bharat Konwar besides Dhemaji Superintendent of Police Nilesh T Sawakare and District Information & Public Relation Officer Mandira Chayengiya present in the meeting.

On the other hand, State’s Deputy Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs, Partha Pegu has also arrived at Jonai under Dhemaji district as election observer and observing the election activities. He will soon address the local media persons there, according to Jonai election department sources.

As per election department data, Dhemaji district has a total 3,25,983 voters, who will exercise their adult franchise in 690 polling stations to determine the fate of a total 2,155 panchayat representatives.
