The Dhubri district administration on Friday ordered the closure of all educational institutions from the pre-primary level to the university level for a period of 15 days until further orders.

The order comes into effect immediately.

The district administration has asked all borders to vacate the hostels of different educational institutions immediately.

The order has been issued following the surge in Covid-19 cases in Assam’s Dhubri district.

The order stated that the number of COVID-19 positive cases have exceeded the 300 marks during the last 10 days in Dhubri , as evident from the daily reports.

The Assam government vide its notification No. ASE.01/2020/P:-V/4 dtd. 27/04/2021 has allowed the discretion of a deputy commissioner as the chairman of District Disaster Management Authority to take a call on the pandemic situation in a particular district.

Dhubri DC Deba Kumar Kalita passed the order.

A total of 62 fresh Covid-19 cases were detected in Dhubri on Thursday.

The number of total cases has now reached 331, of which 317 are active positive cases.

The disease has claimed four lives in the district so far, officials said.
