The 11th edition of Eastern Air Command Air Force Schools Athletics and Sports Championship 2018 kicked off on Monday at Tezpur.
Sports like athletics, basket ball, chess, table tennis, badminton and volley ball will be held at the championship.

The Championship was declared open by Air Commador SK Verma VSM, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Jorhat on Monday, said Tezpur based defence spokesperson Lt Col. Harsh Wardhan Pande.
He said, the impressive opening ceremony was attended by all participants and personnel of the station.
The event commenced with hoisting the team flags followed by march past by the participants at station sports ground. It was followed by a basketball match between AF School Hasimara and AF School Bagdogra.

A total of 125 students from different secondary and senior secondary AF schools under EAC are participating in the Championship.
The championship is being conducted for selection of team to represent EAC in “All India Air Force Schools Athletics and Sports Championship 2018’ scheduled to be held from August 27-31 , at Air Force Station Jalahalli in Bengaluru.
