A doctor engaged in the frontline service in Lakhimpur district has tested positive for COVID19.
This was informed by Dr. HK Dutta, joint director (in-charge) of health service in Lakhimpur district, on Wednesday.

Dr Dutta informed that the doctor, named as Dr Hashid Zaman, had been serving as the facility in-charge at the OPD College quarantine centre in Panigaon, 10 km south of North Lakhimpur since May 25.
Dr Dutta also said: “All of our medical staff and security personnel, posted at the quarantine centre at Panigaon, were tested for COVID19 on Monday following the detection of positive cases among the quarantined inmates.”
“Today we received the test reports and Dr. Hashid Zaman has tested COVID19 positive,” Dr Dutta said.

He further said Dr Zaman is a very dedicated frontline warrior against the pandemic who performed duties 24X7 even by observing fasting during Ramzan month and skipping to visit home for Eid.
Dr. Zaman hails from Guwahati and has been posted in North Lakhimpur since March this year following completion of his MBBS as mandatory service in rural areas of the state.
He has been staying at the residence of his paternal aunt in Moidomiya on the outskirts of North Lakhimpur town.
Dr Zaman was engaged in restraining and subsequent counselling of the unruly COVID19 positive inmates at the OPD College quarantine facility which was vandalized on May 29.
After being tested COVID19 positive, Dr Zaman was first kept in isolation in a house at North Lakhimpur and later he was shifted to the North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital for treatment on Wednesday.
