Assam: Dimbeswar Chaliha's literary legacy honoured with book launch

Guwahati: In a tribute to the renowned writer and former principal of DHSK College, late Dr Dimbeswar Chaliha, two of his books were launched in Dibrugarh, Assam on Wednesday.

The books, including the Assamese translation of naturalist EPG’s “Wild Life of India” and the third edition of “Fechu Raja Hall,” a collection of children’s poems, were unveiled by esteemed guests.

“Wild Life of India” was launched by Dr Parmanand Mohanta, retired professor of physics at Dibrugarh University, who praised Dr Chaliha’s tireless literary contributions despite his principal responsibilities.

“Fechu Raja Hall” was launched by Dr Sashikanta Saikia, principal of DHSK College, who further highlighted Dr Chaliha’s multifaceted talents as a writer, poet, naturalist, and popular science writer.

The program began with a lantern lighting ceremony at Dr. Chaliha’s portrait. His son, Dr Jayanta Madhav Chaliha, and wife Dalimi Chaliha, shared their thoughts and feelings.

Eminent personalities, including Dr Dilip Kumar Bhuyan, Dr Bharti Dutta, and Gandheshwar Saikia, attended the event and remembered Dr Chaliha’s presence.
