Dibrugarh Police on Wednesday arrested a veteran drug peddler along with his wife and seized brown sugar and heroin.
According to Dibrugarh Police, they seized 44 grams of suspected brown sugar and 90 small containers containing suspected heroin, weighing around 15 grams in Dibrugarh on Wednesday evening.
The operation was carried out on the basis of specific information, under the leadership of Dibrugarh deputy superintendent of police (HQ) AJ Baruah, officer-in-charge Rajib Saikia and TSI Arjun Singh.
The operation was launched near the Polo ground in Dibrugarh’s Graham Bazar area in the evening on Wednesday and nabbed two drugs peddlers, namely Wasim Hussain and his wife Neha Hussain.
“The police seized 44 grams of suspected brown sugar and 90 small containers containing suspected heroin weighing around 15 gms from the house of the in-laws of Wasim Hussain on the basis of lead provided by him,” said Dibrugarh Police.
Dibrugarh superintendent of police Shwetank Mishra said, “Wasim Hussain is a veteran drug peddler.”
“We have arrested around 30 drug peddlers in the recent days.”
“Our action against drugs will continue,” Dibrugarh SP Mishra added.
On July 25, a team of Chabua police station in Dibrugarh district caught a drug peddler along with 1.5 kg of ganja.
Then they caught his truck and recovered 17 kg of ganja. With the help from the Lahowal police station, Chabua police caught his car.
