Altogether five students from  Dibrugarh managed to get ranks  among the top ten rank holders of the state in the Higher Secondary Examination-2018.

In Commerce, Dikshita Baruah of Salt Brook Academy secured the 2nd rank scoring 471 marks out of 500.

Dikshita  is the daughter of Debajit Baruah and Bandana Dutta of Godapani area of Dibrugarh. Dikshita said she wants to pursue B.Com from Tezpur University. With painting and reading as her twin hobbies Dikshita mentioned that she used to study 12-13 hours daily.

The third rank in Commerce went to Sweta Das, a student of Gyan Vigyan Academy who secured 464 marks out of 500.  For the first time, Gyan Vigyan Academy secured a position.

Sweta who was singlehandedly raised by her mother Rumi Paul Das belongs to Bansbari area of the town. She intends to pursue B.Com from DHSK Commerce College in Dibrugarh followed by a career in MBA. Sweta said that she used to study around 8-10 hours daily besides pursuing her hobby in painting and singing.

The 8th rank in Commerce was bagged by Avibhawan Hazarika of Salt Brook Academy who secured 458 marks out of 500. Avibhawan who is the son of Naren and Meera Hazarika of Milannagar use to study 2-3 hours daily without any tuition. After his B.Com Avibhawan intends to study civil services.

In Science stream, Antra Phukan of Dr Radhakrishnan School of Arts, Commerce and Science bagged the 6th rank scoring 476 marks out of 500. The daughter of Ajit and Jonali Phukan of Seujpur, Antra use to study 12-13 hours daily besides pursuing her twin hobbies of painting and reading. She intends to study engineering in the future.

Swagat Gogoi of Dr Radhakrishnan School of Arts, Commerce and Science secured the 9th rank in Science scoring 472 marks out of 500. Swagat who is the son of late Niranjan Gogoi and Mainu Gogoi belongs to Milannagar area of the town. Swagat who  had secured the 2nd rank in the class 10 board examination from the state in 2016 expressed his desire of becoming a doctor.
