Dhubri district in Assam reported 56 new Covid19 cases, taking the district’s positive tally to 4,470 on Sunday while the death toll rose to 49, according to the district health department.

The number of active Covid19 cases in Dhubri stood at 1,506 on Sunday while 2,915 people have so far been cured and discharged.

As per the district Covid19 report on Sunday evening, two more persons died of Covid19 infection in the district.

While one of the deceased was from Golakganj, the other deceased was from Raniganj area of the district.

The death toll climbed to 49 after two, identified as Dipak Roy (40 years), a resident of South Tokarchar under Golakganj area and Jaganath Ch Roy (84 years), a resident of Ranganj area of district, died on Sunday.

According to the district Covid19 report, 1458 samples were tested for Covid19 on Sunday including 1,154 Rapid Antigen Tests and 304 RT-PCR tests.

In the Dhubri Municipal area, a total of 51 samples were tested for Covid19, of which 14 people tested positive.

Meanwhile, the district health department informed that Covid19 vaccination for the age group of 45 years and above will be carried out at 16 vaccination centres across the district on Monday.

While the vaccination schedule for the age group between 18 to 44 years has been halted due to non-availability of vaccine, the same will resume within two or three days, said a health official.
