The Dhubri district administration sealed as many as seven shops and other business established for violating lock-down norms in Dhubri town on Thursday.

According to officials, the shop owners were running their business even after the schedule time in the morning was over and violating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) amid Covid-19 guidelines.

According to official sources, executive magistrate PP Berman along with police and other officials visited the market areas of Dhubri town and sealed three business premises namely S Y M N Fish Traders located in New Market area, M/S Kitchen Home Appliances located on N S Road and Jyoti Refrigeration & Co located on A K Azad Road respectively.

Another team of district administration visited the other parts of the town and sealed four more shops for violating corona related SOPs.

The newly appointed deputy commissioner of Dhubri, Anbamuthan M P has clearly instructed to his officials to take stern action against the offenders of Covid-19 norms.

The officials warned people at the shops to maintain physical distancing and wear mask.

PP Barman said that it was extremely concerning to see the crowds around the busy market area in Dhubri town despite the restrictions.

The officials also imposed fine on several peoples who were found without masks during the drive. ]

Barman appealed to the residents to stay indoors unless it was absolutely necessary to venture out to purchase essential commodities.

The state government has imposed curfew from 12 pm to 5am across the state.

On Thursday, Dhubri recorded 89 new positive cases in a span of 24 hours, taking the total tally of cases to 4244.

There are 1629 are active positive cases in the district, while 2572 peoples have recovered so far, said health officials.

On the other hand, the death toll climbed to 46 after two persons succumbed to the virus on Thursday.
