In their another successful operation against illegal trafficking of drugs, the Darrang Police was able to seize 29 gm of heroin a light passenger vehicle.

The consignment of heroin was recovered from the possession of the driver of the vehicle at Sipajhar in Darrang district.

The operation was carried out on Monday afternoon on the basis of secret information.

Talking to Northeast Now, the Darrang superintendent of police, Sushanta Biswa Sarma said , “On Monday afternoon, Sipajhar police at Singimari on the NH-15 intercepted a light commercial passenger vehicle bearing registration no. AS13-AC-0979.”

“On searching, a consignment of suspected heroin, weighing 29 gm, was recovered from the possession of the driver of the vehicle,” the Darrang district police chief informed.

Meanwhile, a case (No 460 /21) has been registered at Sipajhar police station under section 21 (b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances NDPS) Act, 1985.

The police arrested the driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as Jalil Ali in connection with the seizure.

The driver is a resident of No 2 Ghorasowa under Sipajhar police station.

The police produced him before the court which sent him to the judicial custody.

Informing about the seizure, Darrang Police in a tweet on Monday evening wrote: “Based on a secret info, Today Sipajhar PS team apprehended one Md. Jalil Ali of No-2, Ghorasowa under Sipajhar PS on NH 15 at Singimari and recovered 29 grms of suspected Heroine with one tata magic from his possession.”
