The CRPF camp of the COBRA battalion located at Dalgaon in Assam’s Darrang district has been declared a containment zone. 

The CRPF camp has been ordered to be sealed by the Darrang district administration following detection of a number of COVID-19 cases in the camp. 

As many as 65 COVID-19 cases have been detected at the Dalgaon CRPF camp in Assam since Monday till Thursday evening. 

Spike in daily COVID numbers in Assam has become a matter of concern for the state government with a fresh set of SOPs likely to be released on Friday afternoon.

Amid rise in COVID-19 cases in Assam, the state government is reportedly mulling to bring a change in the night curfew timings.  

Night curfew timings in Assam are likely to be extended as a preventive measure to check rising number of COVID-19 cases. 

Restrictions on public gatherings and mandatory use of masks are likely to be included in the new SOPs. 

On Thursday, Assam logged as many as 844 new COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 2.37%.
