In a bid to build a cordial relationship with the civilians under Civic Action Programme 2021-22, the 128 Battalion (BN) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has planned to facilitate Vidya Niketan High School by installing a drinking water unit along with repairing an old lavatory facility to maintain a hygienic atmosphere in the school at Pandu in Guwahati city of Assam.

Binoy Chettri, Commandant of 128 BN of CRPF handed over the drinking water facility on Monday to Lakshmi Dev Mitra, Head Mistress of Vidya Niketan High School in presence of Tarun Sarkar, noted academician cum president of the school development committee, Purushottam Verma, Assistant Commandant, CRPF (128 BN), Kamal Dey, Ex-Deputy Mayor of GMC and former student Kallol Chakraborty, Vice President, BJP City district Committee- Guwahati.   

“We have selected the school under Civic Action Programme 2021-22. Under this plan we have facilitated the school with a drinking water unit for the students and at the same time repaired and renovated the toilet,” – said Binoy Chettri, Commandant of 128 BN while addressing the students and well-wishers at the school campus. 

Mentioning about strengthening the “Police-Public relationship”, Commandant Chettri further mentioned that under “CAP”, CRPF has sponsored academic coaching for thirty (30) promising needy students in their operational area as well.

It is to be mentioned here that CRPF, throughout India takes up such community development programmes under the Civic Action Programme guided by MHA every year.  

Apart from supporting Vidya Niketan High School, a lot of community initiatives have been taken by the force in Sonapur area and Morigaon district of Assam. 

Welcoming the initiative of CRPF for the wellbeing of the school at Pandu, Lakshmi Dev Mitra thanked the 128 BN of the elite force for selecting the school in the city.  

She also said that renovation and installation of the basic utilities will help the students to maintain health and hygiene. 

Vidya Niketan High School is one of the oldest schools in Guwahati with seven hundred twenty-five (725) students covering primary and secondary divisions with a teaching staff strength of thirty-six (36).
