The CRPF paid homage to the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack in a condolence programme held at the Dibrugarh police reserve on Tuesday.
The tribute ceremony was organized at the police reserve community hall by the 171 Batallion of the CRPF along with citizens of the town.
A two-minute silent prayer was observed in memory of the 49 CRPF men who were killed in the suicide attack by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) on February 14 at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.
CRPF DIG (Operations) VS Sharma, Commandant of 171 CRPF Batallion Pradumnya Kumar Singh, Dibrugarh superintendent of police Subashini Sankaran lit lamps and paid floral tributes to the martyred jawans. Officers and jawans of Assam police, Army, CISF and local citizens also paid their homage during the programme.
Assam’s Maneswar Basumatary of Tamulpur in Baksa district was one of the 42 jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack which is said to be one of the deadliest attacks on security forces in the Kashmir valley in over a decade.
