Assam registered 1,585 new COVID19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 1,82,396 while 1,904 patients recovered and 14 persons died of the infection in the last 24 hours.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared on his Twitter handle that the new cases were detected out of 39,780 tests.

Sarma said the positivity rate of Assam continued to be low for the 4th consecutive day (3.98%) on Thursday.
Meanwhile, 1,904 more patients were discharged from the disease in the last 24 hours after their recovery.
With the release of these patients, the total number of patients recovered in the state stands at 1,47,519.

With the demise of 14 more patients on Thursday, the death toll increased to 711.

The people who died of COVID19 on Thursday have been identified as Ratan Bakaliwal (57), Karnal Thapa (53) and Puma Konwar (70), Nikhil Dhar (77) of Dibrugarh; Muhibullah Ali (60) of Cachar and Bhanu Sharma (64) of Karbi Anglong.
The other deceased have been identified as Sangho Ghosh (78) of Kamrup Metro; Padum Ch Borah (53), Anjan Saikia (48) of Jorhat; Mongol Dev Prasad (62) of Golaghat; Mukul Neog (48) of Sivasagar; Sat Prakash Tandon (80), Bikash Agarwal, Chandrabala Das (71) of Kamrup Metro.
