Assam has registered 3,590 new COVID19 cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,80,811 while 17 more positive patients died of infections in the state on the day.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Wednesday said the new cases have been detected out of 1,48,780 tests.

The health minister informed that more than 1 lakh tests have been conducted in Assam for the last three consecutive days.

“Alert ~ 3590 #COVID cases detected out of 148780 tests. I applaud medical team for conducting more than 1 Lakh tests for the 3rd consecutive day,” Sarma tweeted.

Assam’s positivity rate stands at 2.41%, he said.

A total of 1,43,999 patients have recovered from the disease so far in the state.

Assam currently has 36,112 active COVID19 cases.

Informing about the death of 17 more patients due to COVID19 on Wednesday, health minister Sarma said:
“Very sad and anguished to inform that 17 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”

The victims have been identified as Dilwar Hussain Hazarika (62), Hem Ch Baruah (54) and Narayan Pegu (52) of Lakhimpur; Dr Anil Tamuli (67), Rukunuddin Ahmed (52and Subudh Chowdhary (72) of Dibrugarh; Jeherul Islam (15) of Darrang and Satyadev Sharma (78) of Morigaon.

The other victims are Premlal Konwar (55) and Robin Borah (54) of Nagaon; Tutu Chetia (80) of Jorhat; Chenirnai Das (85) of Sonitpur; Abhijit Biswas (33) of Kokrajhar; Bani Paul Chowdhary (80) of Karimganj; Janti Deka (62) of Nalbari; Sanjoy Sur (25) of Cachar and Hussain Ali (65) of Kamrup Rural.

“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” Sarma said.
