On the day when the COVID19 tally in Assam increased to 8,547, a total of 184 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals across the state on Wednesday.
With the newly-discharged patients, the total number of COVID19 patients discharged in Assam so far has risen to 5,831.
Sharing the good news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Wednesday said: “Discharge Alert. Glad that 184 more patients have been discharged today from various civil, district & model hospitals in Assam.”
Expressing his best wished to all the recovered patients, health minister Sarma said Assam currently has 2,701 active COVID19 cases.
“Our best wishes to all! Total Discharged Patients – 5831. Active Patients – 2701,” Sarma tweeted.
The disease has claimed the lives of 12 persons so far while 3 cases migrated from the state.
In India, so far 5,85,493 people have been infected by COVID19 and the disease has claimed the lives of 17,400 people.
On Wednesday, India registered the highest single-day COVID19 deaths at 507 with Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu accounting for over 70 per cent of the fatalities.
The country reported 18,653 new infections on the day.
