Assam has registered 3,555 new COVID19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,15,279.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Wednesday said the new cases have been detected out of 47,744 tests conducted.

“Alert ~ 3555 #COVID cases detected today out of 47744 tests done in last 24 hours,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

The health minister said Assam’s positivity rate stands at 7.44%.

Out of the new COVID19 cases, Kamrup Metro has reported 924 cases, Nagaon 236, Dibrugarh 213 and Baksa district has reported 200 new cases.

A total of 86,892 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have recovered from the disease so far.

Assam currently has 28,061 active COVID19 cases.

With the demise of 8 more positive patients on Wednesday, the COVID19 death toll in Assam reached 323.

The deceased are from Dibrugarh, Karimganj, Kamrup Metro and Darrang districts.

The victims have been identified as 63-year-old Shakuntala Sen, 66-year-old Kajal Dutta, 60-year-old Wahida Rahman from Dibrugarh.

The other COVID19 victims have been identified as 75-year-old Madhabi Bhattacharjee, 60-year-old Jamir Uddin from Karimganj; 82-yer-old Prabhat Chandra Bora, 69-year-old Bulu Devi from Kamrup Metro and 72-year-old Prafulla Sagariya from Darrang.
