Assam has registered 3,266 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to  1,09,040 on Monday.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the news positive cases have been detected out of 44,948 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

“Alert ~ 3266 #COVID cases detected today out of 44948 tests done in last 24 hours,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

Assam’s current positivity rate stands at 7.26%, Sarma said.

Of the new positive cases detected on Monday, Kamrup Metro has reported 700 new cases, Golaghat 233, Cachar 189 and Jorhat has reported 189 new cases.

A total of 83,927 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals or Covid Care centres across Assam after their recovery.

Assam currently has 24,804 active cases.

On Monday, 10 more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 306.

The COVID19 victims are from Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Kamrup Metro and Sivasagar districts.

Out of the total patients, who died of COVID19 infection on Monday, five are from the Dibrugarh district.

They are 63-year-old Gepeswar Senapati, 57-year-old Bidhan Pal, 77-year-old Dilip Kumar Bhattacharjee, 69-year-old Gopilal Saha and 50-year-old Debesh Mukharjee.

The other deceased have been identified as 59-year-old Shuramoni Joyshree from Tinsukia; 80-year-old Khagen Chandra Kalita, 50-year-old Fuljan Begum and 60-year-old Tuntuni Debnath from Kamrup Metro.

The patient, who died of COVID19 infection in Sivasagar district, has been identified as 55-year-old Rohim Khan.
