Assam has registered 2,684 new COVID19 positive cases on Tuesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,11,724.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Tuesday night said the new cases have been detected out of 37,066 tests conducted.

“Alert ~ 2684 #COVID cases detected today out of 37066 tests done in last 24 hours,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

Assam’s positivity rate stands at 7.24%, Sarma said.

Out of the positive cases detected on Tuesday, Kamrup Metro has reported 618 cases, Cachar 174; Dibrugarh 157 and Jorhat has reported 141 new cases.

A total of 85,458 patients have recovered from the disease so far in the state.

Assam currently has 25,948 active COVID19 cases.

On Tuesday, 9 more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 315.

The deceased are from Jorhat, Hojai, Nalbari, Dhemaji, Karimganj and Dibrugarh districts.

Jorhat district reported 2 COVID19 deaths while Hojai district reported 3 deaths.

The COVID19 victims from Jorhat have been identified as 68-year-old Bulindra Nath Borah and 58-year-old Tirtha Gogoi.

The victims from Hojai district, who died of the disease, have been identified as 39-year-old Papri Nandi, 54-year-old Mantosh Roy and 45-year-old Nazrul Islam.

The other victims have been identified as 75-year-old Keshab Ch Das from Nalbari; 45-year-old Pranita Bharali from Dhemaji; 75-year-old Himangshu Sengupta from Karimganj and 72-year-old Subal Dey from Dibrugarh.
