Assam has registered 2,640 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,59,320.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Monday said the new cases have been detected out of 35,603 tests.
“Alert ~ 2640 #COVID cases detected today out of 35603 tests,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
Assam’s positivity rate stands at 7.42%, Sarma informed.

Of the new positive cases, Kamrup Metrio district has reported 574 cases, Jorhat 240, Lakhimpur 206 and Golaghat has reported 198 cases.
A total of 1,27,335 patients have recovered from the disease in Assam so far, Sarma informed.
Assam currently has 31,404 active COVID19 patients.
On Monday, 16 more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 578.
Confirming the news in an earlier tweet, health minister Sarma said: “Very sad and anguished to inform that 16 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”
