Assam has registered 2,409 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s total tally to 1,46,575.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Tuesday night said the new cases have been detected out of 32,770 tests.

“Alert ~ 2409 #COVID cases detected today out of 32770 tests done in last 24 hours,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

The state’s current positivity rate stands at 7.35%, Sarma informed.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro has reported 633 cases, Dibrugarh 201, Jorhat 172 and Lakhimpur district has reported 120 new cases.

A total of 1,15,051 patients have so far recovered from the disease in Assam, Sarma informed.

Assam currently has 31,029 active cases.

On Tuesday, 10 more positive patients, including 4 from Kamrup Metro district, succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 492.

Confirming the news, health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet said: “Very sad & anguished to inform that 10 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”

Health minister Sarma informed that the victims have been reported from Tinsukia, Karbi Anglong, Kamrup Metro, Barpeta, Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh districts.
