Assam has registered 1,792 new COVID19 positive cases on Friday, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,67,374 while 17 more patients have died of the disease in the last 24 hours.
With the demise of 17 more patients, the COVID19 death toll in Assam increased to 625 on Friday.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the new cases have been detected out of 28,245 tests.
“Alert ~ 1792 #COVID cases detected today out of 28245 tests,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
Assam’s positivity rate stands at 6.34%, Sarma informed.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 387 cases, Jorhat 169 cases, Dibrugarh 121 cases and 105 new cases have been reported from Cachar district.
A total of 1,35,141 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been recovered from the disease, Sarma informed.
Assam currently has 31,605 active COVID19 patients.
Assam has recorded 17 more COVID19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people died of the disease has risen to 625.
