Assam has registered 1,537 new COVID19 positive cases on Sunday, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,25,459.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Sunday night said the new cases have been detected out of 23,336 tests.

“Alert ~ 1537 #COVID cases detected today out of 23336 tests done in last 24 hours,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
The state’s positivity rate stands at 6.58%, Sarma informed.
Out of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 382 cases, Hojai 125 and Dibrugarh district has reported 108 cases.

A total of 95,060 patients have recovered from the disease in Assam so far.
Assam currently has 30,036 active cases.
Eight more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam on Sunday, taking the state’s death toll to 360.
The deceased are from Sivasagar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Kamrup Metro, Kokrajhar and Jorhat districts.
On Sunday, Sivasagar district has reported the deaths of two positive patients.
They have been identified as 58-year-old Sankor Sharma and 43-year Madhusmita Baruah.
The other deceased have been identified as 42-year-old Maina Das from Lakhimpur; 70-year-old Giribala Devi from Nagaon; 62-year-old Prasanta Kumar Borthakur and 62-year-old Prabnab Bhiwmick from Kamrup Metro; 73-year-old Hiranmoy Das from Kokrajhar and 92-year-old Dhaneswar Bora from Jorhat.
