With the detection of 1,307 new COVID19 cases and 7 more deaths on Wednesday, Assam’s total positive cases increased to 1,90,209.
Confirming the detection of new cases, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COPVID19 status said the cases have been confirmed out of 33,346 tests.
“Alert ~ 1307 #COVID cases detected out of 33346 tests today,” Sarma tweeted.
Assam’s positivity rate on the day was 3.92%.
Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro reported 317 cases, Jorhat 135 and Dibrugarh reported 119 new cases.
A total of 1,55,074 patients have recovered from the disease in Assam, Sarma informed.
Assam currently has 34,347 active COVID19 cases.

Seven more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Wednesday, taking the state’s death toll to 785.
“Very sad and anguished to inform that 07 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease,” Sarma said in an earlier tweet..
The victims have been identified as Prafulla Borah (64) and Munindra Das (45) of Dibrugarh; Nabadeep Konwar (43) of Sivasagar; Usha Rani Rd (60) of Charaideo; Bhaban Baruah (65) of Kamrup Rural; Manik Saikia (84) of Golaghat and Sukumar Ch Chakraborty (73) of Kamrup Metro.
“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” Sarma said.
