Assam: Covid19 tally in Lakhimpur crosses 150-mark; DC orders closure of schools up to Class V

The Covid19 scenario is worsening in Assam’s Lakhimpur district with the confirmation of positive cases crossing the 150-mark till Friday evening.

According to the data released by Lakhimpur district health department, a total of 5,944 people have been administered Covid19 vaccine in the district which includes 5594 doses of Covisheld, 180 doses Covaxin and 170 doses of Covaxin.

The vaccinated people are from the age group of 45 years and above, 60 years and above, health care workers (HCW), frontline workers (FLW), police and home guards.

The vaccination sessions were conducted in North Lakhimpur Urban Health Centre, Dhakuwakhona, Bogeenadi, Nowboicha, Bihpuria, Dhalpur and Ghilamora BPHCs in the district.

The district health department informed that there are a total 5 AEFI (Adverse Events Following Immunization) cases as of April 23 in Lakhimpur.

The department also informed that there are only 5 vials of Covishield vaccine in the district.

Meanwhile, the Lakhimpur district administration has declared Hokpara village, Bolahi in Ghilamora under Dhakuwakhona sub-division as a containment zone after detection of Covid19 infection among 11 people of the village.

In another development, Lakhimpur deputy commissioner Khrageswar Pegu ordered closure of all government and non-government lower primary schools up to Class V in the district till May 8 due to rise of Covid19 positive cases.
