Assam COVID-19 crisis deepens: 5 deaths, 1665 fresh cases in 24 hours

Assam’s COVID-19 scenario continues to be grim.

COVID-19 death cases in Assam on Wednesday have been reported from the districts of Dibrugarh (2), Kamrup-Metro (1), Cachar (1) and Barpeta. 

With these fresh 5 COVID-19 deaths in Assam, the State’s death tally has risen to 1150.

On the other hand, over 1600 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Assam on Wednesday for the second consecutive day. 

As many as 1665 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam on Wednesday. 

Of the fresh 1665 COVID-19 cases detected in Assam, a total of 674 cases were detected in and around Guwahati city. 

The other districts of Assam to have recorded high COVID-19 caseload on Wednesday are: Kamrup-Rural (125), Nagaon (74) and Dibrugarh (67).

The active COVID-19 cases tally in Assam is also fast nearing the 10,000-mark. 

Presently, in Assam, there are a total of 9048 active COVID-19 cases. 

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Assam was recorded at 2.68 percent on Wednesday, a rise of 0.22 percent compared to Tuesday. 

The fresh 1665 COVID-19 cases in Assam were detected after conducting tests of 62107 samples.
