COVID-19 deaths were reported from as many as 5 districts in Assam on Monday.   

COVID-19 deaths were reported from the districts of: Kamrup-Metro – 8, Kamrup–Rural – 1, Barpeta – 2, Dibrugarh – 3, Goalpara – 1.   

Assam’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 1215.

Moreover, Assam further logged over 3000 COVID-19 positive cases on Monday.   

A total of 3137 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam on Monday.    

As many as 1153 cases have been detected from in and around Guwahati city.   

The other districts with high COVID-19 caseloads are: Dibrugarh – 268, Kamrup-Rural – 255 and Darrang – 127.   

With the detection of these 3137 fresh COVID-19 cases in Assam, the State’s active cases tally has crossed the 17,000-mark.

Assam, at present, has 17764 active COVID-19 cases.   

Assam’s COVID-19 positivity rate was recorded at 4.29 percent on Monday, which has raised serious concerns.   

The 3137 cases recorded in Assam on Monday were detected after conducting tests of 73181 samples. 

With Guwahati’s daily COVID-19 caseload exceeding 1000 on Monday, all educational institutes in Assam including hostels have been closed for the next 15 days. 

Moreover, all the other districts in Assam where the cases have reached a threshold will also impose similar restrictions.

This was confirmed by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. 

“With cases in Kamrup Metro exceeding 1000, I’ve advised DC to shut down all educational instns including hostels for 15 days for now. All other districts, where the numbers reach a threshold that require such measures, shall follow suit,” Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
