Darrang Police on Monday busted a notorious racket of counterfeit Indian currency while arrested two youths and also seized fake notes besides printing electronic goods in Darrang district of Assam.

Acting on a tip off, a team of police from Mangaldai sadar police station on Monday carried out operation in Chalnikhchi area under Dhula police station and nabbed one Imanul Haque (20), a local youth along with his associate namely Rafique Ali (20), a resident of Kehutoli village under the same police station.

The operating police team seized 46 numbers of counterfeit Indian currency in the denomination of Rs 100, one laptop, one CPU, one printer and one lamination machine.

In this connection, the police have already registered a case (no 1047/18) U/S 489 (B) & 489 (C) of IPC at Mangaldai police station and remanded both the accused under judicial custody.
