The Assam Congress, on Monday, staged protest in different parts of the state against alleged land grabbing by the family chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Monday’s protest by the Congress is part of the series of agitational programmes the party has initiated seeking an investigation into alleged land grabbing by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife and son.

Earlier, Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah had said that party workers and leaders will hold protests from January 10 to February 6 in all districts to press for the demand of a judicial probe into the allegations.
“The chief minister is evicting poor people from encroached land while he and his family have grabbed government land meant for the landless people,” the Assam Congress chief said.

A company belonging to Chief Minister Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma and son Nandil Biswa Sarma has allegedly illegally grabbed government land on Guwahati outskirts.
