Assam: Congress MLA Sherman Ali bats for ‘Miya Museum’

At a standing committee meeting of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Congress MLA from Baghbar constituency, Sherman Ali Ahmed, has proposed the state government to establish a Miya Museum at Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

Interacting with the media Ali said that he has made the proposal for the people living in various char areas of the state.

“As the people living in char areas are mostly referred to as ‘Miya’, hence, I have proposed the government to establish a museum after them. The museum should be established at Sankardev Kalakshetra,” he further said.

“The museum would highlight and reflect the culture and heritage of the Miya people,” he added.

The MLA further informed that he has written to the Directorate of Museum, Assam, for expediting the process of setting up the museum.
