The Congress in Assam has intensified its protest against the high prices of petrol and diesel along with other essential commodities.

Top Assam Congress leaders on Monday, for the second consecutive day, led demonstrations by the party across the State over high prices of petrol and diesel along with other essential commodities.

In Guwahati, the protest was being led by Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi.

Gaurav Gogoi was accompanied by Assam Congress chief Ripun Bora in the protest rally.

Gaurav Gogoi said, “BJP Petrol Tax Loot is public knowledge now and that’s why public support grew for Assam Congress’ protest against fuel hike on Day 2. People are fed up with the incumbent autocratic rule and want to save Assam from BJP’s rule in the future.”

Ripun Bora said: “Assam is completely fed up of ‘BJP Petrol Tax Loot’ and is out on the streets to protest, as it did in Guwahati today. The days of BJP’s bad governance and apathy for the people of Assam are over with the state uniting to welcome peace and prosperity with Congress!”

Assam CLP leader Debabrata Saikia led demonstrations at Nazira in Sivasagar district.

Congress workers and many common people joined the protest at Lohaty Petrol Pump in Nazira.

“Assam Congress’ fuel hike protest has gathered more strength and power with locals gathered at Lohaty Petrol Pump in Nazira Town, supporting and strongly campaigning against BJP’s extortionist anti-Assam policies,” said Debabrata Saikia.

Senior Congress leader and former Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev questioned the unabated price hike by the BJP Government.

Sushmita Dev said, “Why doesn’t BJP care about the people of Assam? Why is it ruthlessly looting people in the name of fuel hike- not even caring how will people look after their families during this forced inflation?”

Former Assam Minister Rakibul Hussain said, “Amazing support given by locals in Kamrup to Assam Congress’ fuel hike protest today, as the sentiment against BJP’s anti Assam policies was evident in their enthusiastic sloganeering!”

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi questioned, “Why is BJP is so openly filling the pockets of its cronies, while the people of Assam are being forced to make ends meet? Why is BJP making life so difficult for common man?”
