The Darrang unit of Assam Congress has demanded for an inquiry against as many as five close relatives of former BJP MLA from Mangaldoi – Gurujyoti Das in connection with the infamous APSC cash-for-jobs scam.
The Darrang unit of Assam Congress has demanded Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and investigating agencies probing the case to bring the relatives of ex-MLA Gurujyoti Das under the purview of the investigation.
The Congress alleged that the five relatives of the former BJP MLA were among the “controversial list of successful candidates” of APSC exams during the period between 2013 and 2015.
The Congress stated that these five ‘successful’ candidates, who are relatives of former BJP MLA Gurujyoti Das enjoy “political protection”.

Recently, a special court had ordered for framing of charges against former APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) chairman and prime accused in the infamous cash-for-jobs-scam – Rakesh Paul.
The charges will be framed under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
While, section 420 of the IPC relates to cheating/fraud, section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act relates to “public servant committing criminal misconduct”.
Over 70 people, including several then serving civil service officers and police officers, have been arrested since 2016.
